In November 2022, President Cyril Ramaphosa convened the inaugural SA Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town, launching a new chapter in South Africa's clean industrial transition.

The summit brought together senior leaders from government, private industry, international partners and development finance institutions to define a practical pathway for a domestic green hydrogen economy.

Built on Southern Africa's platinum resources, high-quality wind and solar potential, and existing industrial capability, SAGHS 2022 demonstrated South Africa's competitiveness in the global shift to decarbonised fuels and exports.
